The American Council on Germany and the American Business Forum on Europe will host a Breakfast Briefing with Oliver Süme
Partner at Fieldfisher and Chair of the Board of the Internet Industry Association (eco) on “Digital Sovereignty and the EU’s Digital Omnibus Package: A New Era for Digital Politics?”
On November 19, the European Commission unveiled its Digital Omnibus Package – a sweeping initiative to reorganize and modernize Europe’s digital regulatory landscape. At the same time and in the light of the recent geopolitical developments, the European Commission is pushing for increased digital sovereignty, aiming to strengthen Europe’s capacity in cloud infrastructure and AI. What does this mean for U.S. companies operating in or with Europe? Is this a move toward digital deregulation and a rejection of the dominance of U.S. tech companies?
Join us to learn about the proposed changes that come with the Digital Omnibus and how digital sovereignty might translate into a new era of European digital politics.
