The Philadelphia Warburg Chapter aims to actively engage those interested in transatlantic relations through discussions and lectures. The Chapter works closely with other internationally-focused organizations based in Philadelphia such as the German-American Chamber of Commerce, the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, the Foreign Policy Research and Institute (aka FPRI).
The Chapter typically hosts luncheons at the offices of Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads. Events are generally attended by individuals working in the business community with an interest in German-American relations. Recently, Philadelphia held discussions with speakers like Dr. Markus Meckel, former Foreign Minister of the GDR and former Member of the Bundestag (SPD); Dr. Marcus Böick, Professor of Contemporary History at Ruhr University Bochum; Ralf Fuecks, Managing Director of the Center for Liberal Modernity and Author of Defending Freedom: How We can Win the Fight for an Open Society; Dr. Eckart Woertz, Senior Research Fellow at the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) and Scientific Advisor to the Kuwait Chair at Sciences Po in Paris; Christine Benz, D.B.A., Training Manager at TRUMPF Inc.; Dr. Patrick Keller, Coordinator for Foreign and Security Policy at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Berlin; and Prof. Dr. Birgit Glorius, Associate Professor for Human Geography of East Central Europe at Chemnitz University of Technology.
