The ACG will host a discussion and luncheon with Bernd Spalt, Chief Risk Officer, Commerzbank AG.
Bernd Spalt has been the Chief Risk Officer at Commerzbank AG since January 1, 2024. He is responsible for Group Model Risk Management, Group Compliance, Group Credit Risk Management, Group Cyber Risk & Information Security, and Group Risk Control. As a former member of the Management Board of Erste Group and Erste Bank Austria, he has many years of experience in all areas of risk management.
Prior to joining Commerzbank, Mr. Spalt spent 20 years working for Erste Bank Group — where he was Chief Risk Officer from 2020 to 2022. He started his career at Erste Bank in 2002 when he became Head of Group Risk Management responsible for the implementation of Basel II, Group Risk Control, ICAAP, and Group Risk Reporting. From 2006 to 2019, he was Chief Risk Officer, overseeing comprehensive risk management across Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Romania.
Mr. Spalt holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Vienna, with a focus on European Law.
