Brian Klein is a Founding Partner of WPR Development Company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. WPR is developing Wasatch Peaks Ranch, a 12,600-acre private ski and golf club. He remains a Partner and was a former Managing Member/Co-Founder of Steelhead Partners, a Seattle-based investment firm. Prior to founding Steelhead Partners, he was an Executive Director/Vice President for the international investment bank Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked five years in the equities division, both in Europe and in the U.S., continuing five additional years as an advisor to the firm. Before joining Goldman, Mr. Klein spent 3½ years at the Bayerische Vereinsbank in Munich, Germany.
He serves on the Boards of the Klein Family Partnership (Nashville, Tennessee) and the North Forty Family Office (Seattle, Washington). He is Board Chair of the WPR Community Foundation. Mr. Klein is a former Board member and member of the ownership group of AS Roma, a leading professional soccer team in Italy’s Serie A. He is also a former Board member of the American Council on Germany, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Up With People International, America Scores, the Seattle World Affairs Council, the Lake Washington Soccer Association, Rainier Scholars, and the Bush School. Mr. Klein is a member of US Soccer’s Champion’s Circle and a former Ambassador to US Skiing and Snowboard. While in Germany he was Founder and President of the International Business Club, which was the largest association of young professionals in the country.
Mr. Klein was educated at Texas Christian University (BA in history) and Southern Methodist University (MBA in finance). He is fluent in English and German. He is married to Victoria Owen Klein and has one son, Alexander, born in 1990. They have three grandchildren: Westin, Hudson, and Baker Klein. He splits his time between Salt Lake City and Dana Point, California.
