-
Are generally between the ages of 28 and 38, though exceptions may be made for individuals with particularly compelling profiles.
-
Hold U.S. or German citizenship, or work professionally in either country with a clear and sustained interest in German-American relations.
These criteria serve as a guide; the Selection Committee evaluates each applicant holistically.
Selection Process
The selection process is designed to identify a cohort that is both highly accomplished and broadly representative of the many sectors shaping transatlantic affairs. The process includes:
-
Application Submission
Applicants must submit a personal statement outlining their professional experience, leadership trajectory, and interest in participating in the Young Leaders Program, along with a CV/resume and a letter of recommendation. -
Nominations and References
Candidates may apply independently or be nominated by established leaders in their field. Nominators should write letters of recommendation in addition to submitting nomination forms. -
Committee Review
An independent Selection Committee — composed of distinguished ACG alumni and subject-matter experts — reviews all materials. The committee assesses professional achievement, leadership potential, and the unique perspective each candidate would contribute to the program. -
Final Selection
The final cohort is selected to ensure diversity across sectors, backgrounds, viewpoints, and areas of expertise, thereby fostering a rich and constructive exchange of ideas. -
Notification of Participants
Selected individuals are notified several months in advance and receive detailed information about the program, travel arrangements, and preparatory materials.
Nominations for Young Leader Candidates are due by January 30, 2026.
All application materials must be submitted by February 13, 2026.
