NYC: Digitalization and the Future of Work

The American Council on Germany and the Atlantik Bruecke will host a special discussion and reception with Dr. Robin Mishra, Minister-Counselor, Head of the Science Technology Section at the German Embassy (2005 Young Leader), and Christopher M. Schroeder, Entrepreneur and Internet Investor (1991 Young Leader).

Dr. Robin Mishra, an ACG Young Leader in 2005, has served as Head of the Science and Technology Section of the German Embassy in Washington, DC, since September 1, 2015. He studied Law at the Universities of Münster and Paris. After completing his Ph.D. and legal training, he was an assistant to the CEO of the RTL Group, Europe’s largest broadcasting company. After working as a TV journalist for Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), he switched roles in 2001 to become a Berlin correspondent for the weekly newspaper Rheinischer Merkur. In 2004, Dr. Mishra received an Arthur F. Burns Journalism Fellowship and wrote for the Chicago Tribune. Following this experience, he became Berlin Bureau Chief of the Rheinischer Merkur. Dr. Mishra was awarded the Arthur F. Burns Prize in 2005 and the Roman-Herzog-Medienpreis in 2009 for his articles. He is also the author of various political books. In 2010, he joined the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Berlin and served as Spokesman and Head of Press and Strategic Communications.

Christopher M. Schroeder, an ACG Board member and a Young Leader in 1991, is a leading entrepreneur and investor in interactive technologies and social communications. He is a Board member and former Chief Executive Officer of HealthCentral, a collection of condition and wellness-specific interactive experiences focused on people finding and sharing real-life experiences related to their health needs. Mr. Schroeder is an investor and advisor for a series of technology startups and funds ranging from news and media to education, social networks, and marketing. A veteran of online media, he served as CEO and Publisher of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, which hosts washingtonpost.com and newsweek.msnbc.com, among other leading news sites. He is also engaged in exploring more global trends toward entrepreneurship, with a special focus on the developing world and the Middle East. He is the author of the best-selling book Startup Rising: The Entrepreneurial Revolution Remaking the Middle East. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and with honors from Harvard Business School.
