Stefan Hafke was recently named CEO of Citigroup Global Markets Europe, AG, its Frankfurt-based entity
that serves as its hub on the continent.
Since March 2020, Mr. Hafke has served as the CEO for Citi Germany, taking on the role of country head
with a comprehensive mandate that spans across all business sectors and functions. In his capacity as
Banking Head for Germany and Austria, he oversees the overall client strategy, encompassing Corporate
Banking, Investment Banking, and Commercial Banking. His responsibilities include managing a diverse
client portfolio, which consists of over 200 relationships with corporates, financial institutions, and public
sector clients from Germany and Austria. Mr. Hafke’s experience with Citi includes various legal entity
management roles. He has been the branch manager of the CEP Germany Branch and the Citibank NA
Frankfurt Branch. Currently, he is a member of the CGME Management Board, where he is responsible
for Investment Banking. From 2014 until April 2023, Mr. Hafke headed the Corporate Bank for Germany
and Austria.
His journey with Citi began in November 2001 when he joined the company after leaving Deutsche Bank.
At Deutsche Bank, he was a Relationship Manager within the Corporate and Investment Banking Division,
where his focus was on multinational corporates. Mr. Hafke’s extensive experience and leadership roles
reflect his deep expertise in the banking industry, particularly in handling complex client relationships and
managing significant banking operations.
