DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Atlanta Warburg Chapter and the German American Chamber of Commerce of the South will host a discussion and luncheon with Mr. Peter Beyer\, Member of the Bundestag (CDU) and Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation for the Federal Foreign Ministry.  \n\n\n\n\nRegistration: \n\n\n$10 for GACC South and ACG Members\n$20 for Non-Members \n\n\n\n\nBeyer began his legal career as an associate attorney for the US-headquartered firm of Mayer\, Brown & Platt (now Mayer Brown). He also worked with Brinks\, Hofer\, Gilson & Lione in Chicago\, and Murchison & Cumming in Los Angeles. \nA committed Atlanticist for many years\, Beyer stands out among Members of the German Bundestag and his party as one of the most committed advocates of a strong transatlantic relationship with the United States and Canada. He serves as parliamentary Special Rapporteur on Transatlantic Relations in the Committee on Foreign Affairs. He is an active member of Atlantik-Brücke\, the Aspen Institute and United Europe in addition to numerous organizations in his district. Beyer is also Executive Vice-President of the Southeast Europe Association. \nIn April 2018\, Beyer was appointed Coordinator of Transatlantic Cooperation. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

There is a $25 charge for nonmembers to attend this event. RSVP here by May 22. \n\n\n\nEckart Woertz\, Ph.D.\, is a Senior Research Fellow at CIDOB\, the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs\, and scientific advisor to the Kuwait Chair at Sciences Po in Paris\, and he teaches at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI). Previously\, he was a visiting fellow at Princeton University and Director of Economic Studies at the Gulf Research Center in Dubai\, and he worked for banks in Germany and the United Arab Emirates. He is the author of Oil for Food (Oxford University Press 2013) and has published numerous journal articles on development issues in the Middle East. He is on the Editorial Boards of Food Security and the Journal of Arabian Studies and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Friedrich- Alexander University\, Erlangen-Nuremberg. \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Reservations are required here by March 3. \nCornelia Schu serves as the SVR’s Managing Director as well as the Director of the SVR’s Research Unit. Before joining the SVR\, Dr. Schu led Stiftung Mercator’s thematic cluster on integration\, where she gained extensive expertise in integration policy. Dr. Schu also worked as Personal Assistant to the Secretary General and the Chairman of the German Council of Science and Humanities.
