SUMMARY:Iran–Russian Relations and the War in Ukraine
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Russia\, Iran\, and Turkey have a complex relationship that has been shaped by shared interests and by conflict. Earlier this week\, the leaders of the three regional powers met in Tehran in an effort to bolster relations between their countries. The summit took place a few weeks after a series of western summits (including NATO and the G7)\, shortly after Russian gas giant Gazprom announced a new cooperation agreement with Iran\, and just days after U.S. President Joe Biden traveled to the region. \nJoin the ACG on July 26 at 11:00 am ET\, for an assessment of the meeting in Tehran and the impact of the war in Ukraine on Russia’s relations with Iran and Turkey. We’ll be joined by 2022 ACG McCloy Fellow Dr. Ali Fathollah-Nejad\, who is an expert on the region.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register Here” style=”classic” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fus02web.zoom.us%2Fwebinar%2Fregister%2F9016585006412%2FWN_uc_sc1lHQ7G7iFsr1Y47gg” css=”.vc_custom_1658500701190{background-color: #1e73be !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”][vc_column_text]Dr. Ali Fathollah-Nejad is a German–Iranian political scientist focusing on Iran\, the Middle East\, and the post-unipolar world order. He holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Department of Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London (SOAS) and was the winner of the 2016/17 post-doctoral fellowship of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Iran Project.
