DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n \nThe American Council on Germany will host a Breakfast Briefing  on “The ‘Multi-polarization’ of the World: Europe\, the United States\, and the Current Crisis in the Middle East” with Dr. Volker Perthes\,Senior Distinguished Fellow at German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and Former Under Secretary General of the United Nations. \nTo RSVP\, please email events@acgusa.org by Monday\, April 20\, with your name\, title\, and affiliation. \nDr. Volker Perthes is a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik\, SWP) and former Under Secretary General of the United Nations. He previously served as Special Representative of the Secretary General for Sudan and Head of UNITAMS (from February 2021 through October 2023) and led the Independent Strategic Review of UNAMI (Iraq) (from October 2023 through March 2024). \nFrom 2005 to 2020\, he was Director and CEO of Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik and also taught international relations at Humboldt University\, Berlin.
