SUMMARY:The Shifting Geo-Economic Landscape: A German Perspective
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ACG will host a discussion and luncheon with Dr. Christian Forwick\, Deputy Director-General for External Economic Relations\, Trade Policy\, and America in the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. \nFor more information\, please email events@acgusa.org. \nChristian Forwick has served as the Deputy Director-General for External Economic Relations\, Trade Policy\, and America in the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action since July 2018. Prior to this\, he was head of the Ministry’s budget division. After starting his career in the public administration in 1994\, he worked for many years in the area of foreign economic relations\, starting with bilateral relations with South Africa\, followed by export financing and export promotion\, and finally specializing in trade policy. He spent several years at the German Mission to the WTO in Geneva and in the department of Foreign Economic Relations in the Federal Chancellery.\nMr. Forwick grew up in Spain and began his academic career in Ecuador (Quito). He studied law in Germany (Saarbruecken\, Muenster\, and Hamburg) and Switzerland (Geneva). He holds a PhD from the University of Muenster and spent a year as a visiting scholar at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas\, TX.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Previously\, he worked as Deutschlandfunk’s Editor-in-Chief in Cologne and as a legal policy correspondent in Karlsruhe\, among other positions. Mr. Detjen is a member of the board of the Bundespressekonferenz and was a member of the foundation board for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade from 2013 to 2018. He studied Law and History in Munich\, Aix-en-Provence\, and Speyer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
