SUMMARY:Indianapolis: Teaching and Scholarship on the Holocaust in the United States
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ACG in partnership with the Leo Baeck Institute New York | Berlin will host a panel discussion with Professor Mark Roseman\, Pat M. Glazer Chair in Jewish Studies\, Borns Jewish Studies Program\, Indiana University; Dr. Andreas Götze\, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chicago; Dr. Frank Mecklenburg\, Director of Research and Chief Archivist\, The Leo Baeck Institute – New York | Berlin; and Kelly A. Watson\, Regional Educator and Museum Teacher Fellow\, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  \nThis lecture looks at the remarkable explosion of teaching and scholarship on the Holocaust in the United States over the last fifty years. In the 1970’s\, it would have been simply unthinkable that the Holocaust could dwarf the Second World War as a topic of memory\, pedagogy and research. Now in teaching students about the Holocaust we often have to remind them that a world war was taking place at the same time. The implications of this shift for understanding Germany\, Europe and the World is also a topic of the lecture. \nTo RSVP for this event\, please click on the link below:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/deutschlandjahr-event-tickets-66579790947\nThis event is complimentary but registration is required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
