His research focuses on European foreign policy in a broad sense\, from integrating the Western Balkans into Euro-Atlantic structures to the European Union’s role in the negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program to the impact of the economic crisis on Europe’s global role. Since 2000\, Mr. Adebahr has been the owner of a political consultancy in Berlin. In addition\, he is an Associate Fellow at the Research Institute of the German Council on Foreign Relations as well as a member of Team Europe\, an experts’ network of the European Commission. From 2005 to 2011\, Mr. Adebahr was a lecturer at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt\, teaching a master’s course on European foreign policy. In 2012 and 2013\, he taught political science at the University of Tehran in Iran. She has also reported on terrorism for The New York Times\, The International Herald Tribune\, and NPR\, and she is the co-author of The Eternal Nazi\, Children of Jihad\, and Islam. She was one of two reporters who broke the story of Khaled el Masri’s rendition case and worked on a series called “Inside the Jihad\,” where she and her colleagues interviewed members of radical jihadist organizations all over the world. Ms. Mekhennet was a 2012 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University\, and she has been a visiting fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Policy at Harvard\, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS)\, and the Geneva Center for Security Policy. The daughter of a Turkish mother\, and a Moroccan father\, she was born and educated in Germany. In 1985 and 1986\, he was a Kennedy Fellow at Harvard University\, and in 2008 and 2009\, he was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. In 2010 and 2011\, he served as the Theodor Heuss Professor at the New School for Social Research in New York City. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Minneapolis Warburg Chapter\, Saint Paul College\, and the German American Chamber of Commerce\, will host a luncheon and discussion with Christine Benz\, D.B.A.\, the Training Manager at TRUMPF Inc.  \nThere will be a $20 charge for ACG members\, GACC members\, and Saint Paul College faculty and staff; a $25 charge for nonmembers; and a $10 for students. RSVP here by September 20. \nChristine Benz\, Ph.D.\, initiated and oversees TRUMPF Inc.’s successful registered apprenticeship program\, and promotes dual education among businesses\, educators\, and legislators. She joined TRUMPF Inc. in May 2003\, initially working as an engineer in the Laser Development Department\, where she developed new laser designs. She then worked as a Manager of Project Engineering in the Customer Service group\, where she managed large-scale automation projects. In her curent role as Training Manager\, she is responsible for providing TRUMPF customers with the knowledge they need to operate high-technology equipment successfully as well as for the continuous training and development of TRUMPF employees. She also serves as a member of Central Connecticut State University’s Industrial Advisory Board. Meister is the German Consul General in Houston. After completing his studies in economics at the University of Duisburg in 1980\, he joined the German Federal Foreign Office. Throughout his early career\, he served in Berlin as well as in Australia\, Uganda\, the United States\, Brazil\, and Spain. From 2009-2012\, he served as Ambassador to New Zealand\, also accredited to the Cook Islands\, the Republic of Fiji\, the Republic of Kiribati\, the Independent State of Samoa\, the Kingdom of Tonga\, and Tuvalu. From 2012-2015\, he served as the Ambassador to the Republic of Iceland before heading the “Climate and Environmental Foreign Policy\, Sustainable Economy” division at the German Federal Foreign Office until the summer of 2017\, when he took on his current position in Houston.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

He previously headed the public-policy representation of Deutsche Bank in Berlin and was the Managing Director of the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft\, the International Forum of Deutsche Bank. Early in his career\, he served as Special Assistant for Europe to Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. He was the Director General of the German Foreign Ministry and held senior staff positions with Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher – when he was deeply involved in negotiations on German unification – and with Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel\, when he worked toward a solution to the Balkan crisis. As Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York\, he negotiated the first four UN resolutions on the Iranian nuclear issue\, which became the foundation for the so-called 3+3 Iranian nuclear deal\, accomplished in 2014. Ambassador Matussek sits on a number of boards\, including the Deutsche Gesellschaft für die Vereinten Nationen (United Nations Association of Germany); Institute for Strategic Dialogue in London; Internationaler Wirtschaftssenat e.V. From 2003 until April 2008 he was an Assistant Professor of Political Science and North American Studies at Bonn University. He studied International Relations\, American Language and Literature\, and German Literature at Bonn University and Georgetown University in Washington\, D.C. He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Bonn University and was a fellow at the Johns Hopkins University’s American Institute of Contemporary German Studies in Washington\, D.C. He is also an associate at the Stiftung Neue Verantwortung\, Berlin\, and a lecturer in Security Policy at the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. Twice\, Capital magazine Germany named him one of the “Most promising leaders under 40.” His essays on transatlantic security policy. international relations\, and American politics have been published in numerous newspapers and magazines\, including The Wall Street Journal\, Neue Zürcher Zeitung\, Survival\, Internationale Politik\, die tageszeitung\, Merkur\, The Weekly Standard\, and American Foreign Policy Interests\, and the NATO Defense College in Rome has published three of his studies as research papers. A frequent commentator on radio and TV\, he has published five books\, including Neoconservatism and American Foreign Policy: Ideas\, War\, and Strategy from Ronald Reagan to George W.
