DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nOn September 30\, the ACG will join Advancing American Freedom and the Robert Bosch Fellowship Alumni Association in hosting “The Future of the Right: Conservatism at a Crossroads on Both Sides of the Atlantic.” The program will bring together policymakers\, journalists\, scholars\, and emerging leaders to explore the debates shaping center-right and conservative movements.\n\nDiscussions will examine a range of issues\, including free markets and economic nationalism\, populism and institutional reform\, support for Ukraine\, and the future of Western security. The program will conclude with interactive working-group conversations on the future direction of the political right as the United States moves toward a post-Trump era and Europe’s center-right parties navigate their own period of transition.\n\nFeatured speakers include Penny Naas (German Marshall Fund)\, Peter Rough (Hudson Institute)\, Thomas J. Seliger has served as the Hanns Seidel Foundation’s Representative for the USA and Canada since January 2026. Previously\, he served as the Foundation’s Resident Representative in Korea for more than two decades\, focusing on Korean unification\, peace and security in Northeast Asia\, and regional geopolitics. He also implemented capacity-building projects in North Korea and is an associate of North Korean Review. He was named an honorary citizen of Seoul in 2006 and Gangwon Province in 2012. Dr. Seliger holds degrees in economics from Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and Christian-Albrechts-University at Kiel\, where he earned his doctorate in 1998\, and completed his habilitation at Witten/Herdecke University in 2007. He is currently an honorary professor of economic policy\, specializing in East Asian economies\, at Zwickau University of Applied Sciences.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
