SUMMARY:Denver: The Future of the EU after Brexit: Implications for Transatlantic Relations from a German Perspective
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Denver Warburg Chapter and the Denver Council on Foreign Relations will host a discussion and reception with Dr. Jana Puglierin\, Head of the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Policy Studies at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). \nThere is a $15 charge and a $25 charge for nonmembers to attend this event.\nThere will be a cash bar.\nRSVP here by November 6. \nDr. Jana Puglierin is head of the Alfred von Oppenheim Center for European Policy Studies at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). The Oppenheim Center seeks to provide new ideas for the continued development of European foreign\, security\, and defense policy and to give recommendations for Germany’s policies on Europe. Prior to this she was a program officer at the DGAP’s Future Forum Berlin\, temporarily heading the program from October 2013 until August 2014. Before joining DGAP she was an advisor on disarmament\, arms control\, and non-proliferation at the German Bundestag\, where she also worked on matters relating to German and European foreign and security policy. Between 2003 and 2011 she was a research assistant and lecturer to the chair of political science and contemporary history as well as in the program for North American studies at the University of Bonn\, held a teaching post at the University of Chemnitz\, and worked as a researcher at DGAP. Jana is an alumna of the ZEIT Foundation Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius and a member of the extended board of Women in International Security (WIIS.de). She was an associate at Stiftung Neue Verantwortung\, Berlin from October 2010 until October 2011. Jana studied political science\, international and European law\, and sociology at the University of Bonn and at Venice International University. Her doctoral degree was based on a thesis on the life and thought of John H. Herz. \nAbstract: This presentation will cover the future of the European integration process after the German elections with a focus on the role of Germany\, Franco-German relations\, the implications of Brexit on the cohesion of the EU-27\, the common security and defense policy\, and the impact of this process on transatlantic relations from the German point of view.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
