DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The San Francisco Warburg Chapter and the Goethe-Institute will host a discussion and reception with Dr. Sebastian Voigt\, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Contemporary History Munich – Berlin. \nThere will be no charge to attend this event.\nRSVP here by November 6. \nDr. Sebastian Voigt\, a Doctor of Philosophy\, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Contemporary History Munich – Berlin\, a Fellow at the Institute for Social Movements in Bochum\, and a Teaching Assistant at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Dr. Voigt has published widely in the field of modern European history. His research interests are labor history\, the history of social democracy and Commmunism\, and the history of antisemitism. He is a recipient of several scholarships\, among others from the Fulbright Foundation and the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. \nAbstract: In contrast to other European countries\, a right-wing populist party has not been successful in Germany for a long time. However\, in the context of the European economic solidarity measures\, the eurosceptic AfD was founded in 2013. In the following years\, it has managed to get into many state parliaments. The refugee crisis contributed to a further rise of the AfD\, changing the political environment in Germany.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
