SUMMARY:Charlotte: Political Stability in Changing Societies: The German Case from an International Perspective
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Charlotte Warburg Chapter\, Hanns Seidel Stiftung\, and the World Affairs Council of Charlotte will host a breakfast briefing with Oliver Jörg\, Secretary General of the Hanns Seidel Stiftung.  \nThere will be no charge to attend\, however you must register to attend. RSVP here by March 2. \nOliver Jörg is the Secretary General of the Hanns Seidel Stiftung. Before being appointed to his current posiiton in \n2019\, he spent 10 years as a member of the Bavarian State Parliament. During this time\, he served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Higher Education\, Research\, and Culture. In addition\, he chaired the working group Active Civil Society / Voluntary Work of the CSU Parliamentary Group. Mr. Jörg had a lasting influence on the Bavarian science and research landscape\, particularly in decentralizing higher education and strengthening the cooperation between universities of applied sciences and the private sector. While in Parliament\, he was particularly focused on the social development of Bavaria regarding its civil society\, culture and the preservation of monuments. \nMr. Jörg studied law at the Universities of Passau\, Würzburg\, and Linz (Austria). He was admitted to the German Bar in 2004 and practiced as a lawyer full time for four years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Dallas Warburg Chapter will host a Breakfast Briefing with Dr. Johannes Beermann\, Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank.  \nThis event is invitation only. \nDr. Johannes Beermann has been a Member of the Executive Board of the German Bundesbank currently responsible for cash management\, administration\, construction management\, controlling\, accounting and organisation\, and the procurement center since January 2015. Prior to that\, from September 2009 to November 2014\, he was Minister of the State and Chief of the State Chancellery of the Free State of Saxony. From June 2008 to September 2009\, he was Chief of the State Chancellery and Minister of State for Federal and European Affairs of the Free State of Saxony. Dr. Beermann served as Secretary of State for Federal and European Affairs at the Hessian State Chancellery and Commissioner (Bevollmächtigter) of the State of Hesse to the Federation from 1999 to 2003 and as State Councillor to the Senator of Finance of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen from 1995 to 1999. Before that\, he held miscellaneous functions in the public sector. He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Münster and has spent time as an associate partner of a law firm and a practicing lawyer when not in the public sector\, especially between 2003 and 2008.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
