SUMMARY:Hot Topics / Cold Realities: Sovereign Debt Crisis - U.S. Out\, Germany In?
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In the United States\, the Trump administration is moving forward with a sweeping fiscal initiative – the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Introduced as fulfilling a campaign promise to rein in the national debt\, critics worry that the bill would instead add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Meanwhile\, in Germany\, Chancellor Merz has pushed through a landmark €500 billion public lending package in a dramatic departure from Germany’s strict fiscal tradition – even rewriting its constitutional debt rule – to revive its economy and military strength. \nJoin the American Council on Germany and 1014 for an insightful discussion with ACG Board Member Tara Hariharan\, Managing Director of Global Macro Research at NWI Management\, and Prof. Dr. Michael Hüther\, Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the German Economic Institute\, to explore how sovereign debt can serve as a valuable tool for financing government expenditures and necessary investments\, while also examining the risks of allowing debt to reach unsustainable levels.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register Here” style=”classic” css=”.vc_custom_1749154157480{background-color: #1e73be !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fus02web.zoom.us%2Fwebinar%2Fregister%2F1417491541124%2FWN_bPj676qzTseqqv82xzcYNQ”][vc_column_text]Tara Hariharan is Managing Director of Global Macro Research and Head of Macro Research at NWI Management LP\, a New York-based global macro hedge fund.
