DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ACG will host a breakfast briefing with Wolfram von Heynitz\, Head of Cyber Policy Coordination Staff in the German Federal Foreign Office.  \nWolfram von Heynitz is the Head of the Cyber Policy Coordination Staff in the German Federal Foreign Office. His previous positions include a term as Research Commissioner of the German Foreign Office and a member of its Policy Planning staff\, specializing in cyber policy\, cybersecurity\, and in the face of emerging challenges\, the development of future strategies for the Foreign Office. He also served as Head of the Division for Foresight\, in the Ministry’s EU Enlargement Division\, as the Political Counsellor at the German Embassy in Tel Aviv dealing with the Middle East Peace Process and Israeli politics\, in the private office of the Minister for European Affairs\, and in the Office of the Federal President. In addition\, he was posted as Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassies in Ireland and Azerbaijan. Before joining the Foreign Service\, he graduated from the Université Paris-Sorbonne with a master’s thesis (Maitrise) on artificial intelligence and lectured in philosophy at the Freie Universität Berlin. He also studied in Marburg and at Harvard and holds degrees in both law and philosophy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ACG in partnership with the Leo Baeck Institute New York | Berlin will host a panel discussion with Professor Mark Roseman\, Pat M. Glazer Chair in Jewish Studies\, Borns Jewish Studies Program\, Indiana University; Dr. Andreas Götze\, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chicago; Dr. Frank Mecklenburg\, Director of Research and Chief Archivist\, The Leo Baeck Institute – New York | Berlin; and Kelly A. Watson\, Regional Educator and Museum Teacher Fellow\, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  \nThis lecture looks at the remarkable explosion of teaching and scholarship on the Holocaust in the United States over the last fifty years. In the 1970’s\, it would have been simply unthinkable that the Holocaust could dwarf the Second World War as a topic of memory\, pedagogy and research. Now in teaching students about the Holocaust we often have to remind them that a world war was taking place at the same time. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThe Denver of the American Council on Germany will host a discussion and reception with Dr. Cornelius Adebahr\, Political Analyst and Nonresident Fellow at Carnegie Europe\, on “German and European Politics in Times of Disruption.” \nThere will be a $20 charge for members and a $30 charge for nonmembers to attend this event. \nDr. Cornelius Adebahr is a political analyst and consultant living in Berlin\, Germany. His work focuses on European foreign policy issues\, transatlantic relations\, and Iran. Since the end of 2000\, he has been the owner of Wirtschaft am Wasserturm – Political Consultancy\, Project Development\, and Training. In addition\, he is a non-resident fellow at Carnegie Europe in Brussels and an associate fellow of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP)\, as well as a member of the Team Europe of the European Commission. He was a lecturer at Georgetown University (2015/16)\, at Tehran University (2012/13)\, and at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at Erfurt University (2005-2011). \nFrom 2009 to 2011\, he was a fellow of the New Leadership Foundation (stiftung neue verantwortung) in Berlin\, and in 2002/2003 of the Robert Bosch Foundation’s Post-Graduate Program in International Affairs. Dr. Adebahr studied Political Science (International Relations)\, Philosophy\, Public Law\, and International Economics in Tübingen\, Paris\, and at the Free University Berlin\, where he graduated in 2001 before receiving his PhD in 2008 with an analysis of the work of the EU Special Representatives. His analysis of the EU’s foreign policy towards Iran\, with a particular focus on the nuclear negotiations (2003-2015)\, appeared with Routledge in 2017.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
