DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Chicago Warburg Chapter will host a discussion and luncheon with Juliane Schäuble\, U.S. Correspondent at Der Tagesspiegel. \nThere is no charge to attend this event. RSVP here by February 13. \nAll guests must have a valid Photo ID or Passport to clear security. After entering the building\, go through main floor security on the Adams or Franklin side of the building. The Wacker entrance is closed due to construction. Take the elevator marked 33-66 on the north side of the main lobby. You will get off on the 33rd floor\, take the elevator marked 33-34 to the 34th floor. On 34th floor\, walk south through the first elevator lobby toward the elevators for floors 58-63. Take elevator to 59th floor to reception. \nJuliane Schäuble has been reporting for the Berlin-based daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel from Washington\, D.C. since June 2018. Before her current position\, she most recently headed the political department\, where she was responsible for the front page and the political section. She has more than 10 years of experience in the business and political department. Ms. Schäuble has developed and continues to organize political conferences on a regular basis in cooperation with the Freie Universität Berlin and the Schwarzkopf-Stiftung. She earned her Master’s degree in Political Science at the University of Potsdam\, Germany. Her studies included one semester at American University in Washington\, DC\, where she took classes in American foreign policy and worked part time for the American Council of Young Political Leaders. In 2009 and 2010\, she was trained in the Media Manager Program of the publishing house Georg von Holtzbrinck. In 2006\, she was a Fellow of the Johanna Quandt Foundation for economic journalists. Ms. Schäuble has taken part in numerous leadership programs\, including the Manfred Wörner Seminar of the German Marshall Fund and the Armed Forces Office of the German Defense Ministry; Atlantik-Brücke’s German-American Young Leaders Conference; the Collaborative Leadership Program of Leadership Berlin – Netzwerk Verantwortung; and the Young Leaders Conference of the Council for the United States and Italy.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Charlotte Warburg Chapter and the North Carolina Zeitgeist Foundation will host a discussion with Annette Schavan\, former German Ambassador to the Holy See/Vatican and former German Federal Minister of Education and Research.  \nThis event is free but registration is required. RSVP here by February 12. \nAnnette Schavan is a German politician born in Grevenbroich\, near Cologne. Most of her professional and political life she spent in Baden-Württemberg\, the State with most of Germany’s famous companies of the Mittelstand\, the type of companies which form the backbone of Germany’s economy and which are often family-owned. In Baden-Württemberg\, she was Minister for Cultural Affairs\, Youth\, and Sport from 1995 till 2005. From 2005 to 2014\, she was a Member of the German Federal Parliament. From 2005 to 2013 she served in the cabinet of Angela Merkel as Federal Minister for Education and Research. She was German Ambassador at the Holy See / Vatican from 2014 to June of 2018. She studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the universities in Bonn and Düsseldorf. Today she lives in Ulm\, Baden Württemberg.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
