Born in the Communist GDR as the daughter of a Lutheran pastor\, she received a Ph.D. in Physics and went on to become the head of the conservative party Christian Democratic Union (CDU)\, which was dominated by West German\, Catholic men. She has been the German Chancellor since 2005\, and though her party’s numbers faltered in the recent German federal election\, her political career is far from over.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
