Correspondent and Deputy Bureau Chief of the German TV network ARD. \nThere will be a charge of $15 for members and $25 charge for nonmembers to attend this event.\nRSVP here no later than Friday\, October 13. \nDr. Jan Philipp Burgard is the correspondent and Deputy Bureau Chief of the German TV network ARD in Washington\, DC. He studied political science at the University of Bonn and at the Sorbonne in Paris. His doctoral thesis analyzes Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. In 2016\, he published another book about the U.S. elections\, Amerika stellt die Weichen (America Sets the Course). Dr. Burgard also worked as a political correspondent in Berlin and covered breaking news events like the terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels. In 2017\, he became the youngest U.S. correspondent in the history of his network\, ARD at the age of 31. \nAbstract: For decades\, the USA and Germany have been the bulwark of the West. But like no other President before him\, Donald Trump has raised questions about the nature of this key partnership. Shortly after the Bundestagswahl (federal elections) in Germany\, TV correspondent Dr. Jan Philipp Burgard will provide an inside view of how the new political environment might change the transatlantic relationship.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Mr. Frankenberger’s writings deal especially with U.S.\, European\, transatlantic\, and international politics. Prior to his positions at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung\, he was a congressional fellow and served as an assistant to a Member of Congress in 1985 and 1986\, thus taking a closer look at the political decision-making process of the United States. Mr. Frankenberger’s academic activities include research positions at the Center for North American Studies in Frankfurt/Main and a Marshall Fellowship at Harvard University in 1990. Schroeder\, Entrepreneur and Internet Investor (1991 Young Leader). \nRSVP (acceptances only) to the American Council on Germany\nat 212-826-3636 or events@acgusa.org. \nDr. Robin Mishra\, an ACG Young Leader in 2005\, has served as Head of the Science and Technology Section of the German Embassy in Washington\, DC\, since September 1\, 2015. He studied Law at the Universities of Münster and Paris. After completing his Ph.D. and legal training\, he was an assistant to the CEO of the RTL Group\, Europe’s largest broadcasting company. After working as a TV journalist for Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR)\, he switched roles in 2001 to become a Berlin correspondent for the weekly newspaper Rheinischer Merkur. In 2004\, Dr. Mishra received an Arthur F. Burns Journalism Fellowship and wrote for the Chicago Tribune. Following this experience\, he became Berlin Bureau Chief of the Rheinischer Merkur. Dr. Mishra was awarded the Arthur F. Burns Prize in 2005 and the Roman-Herzog-Medienpreis in 2009 for his articles. He is also the author of various political books. In 2010\, he joined the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Berlin and served as Spokesman and Head of Press and Strategic Communications. \nChristopher M. Schroeder\, an ACG Board member and a Young Leader in 1991\, is a leading entrepreneur and investor in interactive technologies and social communications. He is a Board member and former Chief Executive Officer of HealthCentral\, a collection of condition and wellness-specific interactive experiences focused on people finding and sharing real-life experiences related to their health needs. Mr. Schroeder is an investor and advisor for a series of technology startups and funds ranging from news and media to education\, social networks\, and marketing. A veteran of online media\, he served as CEO and Publisher of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive\, which hosts washingtonpost.com and newsweek.msnbc.com\, among other leading news sites. He is also engaged in exploring more global trends toward entrepreneurship\, with a special focus on the developing world and the Middle East. He is the author of the best-selling book Startup Rising: The Entrepreneurial Revolution Remaking the Middle East.
