Francis J. Kelly, Jr., is Managing Director & Head, Communications & Public Affairs – Americas for Deutsche Bank AG. In this capacity he is responsible for overseeing legislative and regulatory matters, corporate communications, internal communications, brand and advertising, as well as conferences and events for the Bank’s operations throughout the Western Hemisphere. Mr. Kelly also serves as the region’s Chief Political Risk Strategist, advising clients on global and domestic political risk issues and their potential impact on markets and industry sectors, and heads up the Bank’s U.S. Direct Investment Advisory Group (DIAG).
Previously, he was Senior Vice President & Head of Government Affairs for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., and a member of the firm’s senior management team. Prior to that, he was with Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., where he was Vice President and head of marketing and communications for the firm’s global investment banking and capital markets group.
He has also served at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as the Chief Spokesman and Deputy Director and then acting Director of the Office of Public Affairs, Policy Evaluation, and Research. He was at the U.S. Department of Justice and the White House in the role of Deputy Associate Director of the Office of Political Affairs during the Reagan Administration. He started in the Reagan Administration as a writer for President Reagan.
Mr. Kelly has participated in 10 Young Leaders Conferences since being a Young Leader in 1996.
