Alan H. Fleischmann

Alan H. Fleischmann is Founder, President, and CEO of the business advisory & strategic communications firm Laurel Strategies Inc., a global firm that advises CEOs and leaders across the globe. Previously, Mr. Fleischmann served as a Principal and member of the managing board and operating committee of the global business strategy firm Albright Stonebridge Group.

Mr. Fleischmann has also served as Senior Counselor, Senior Vice President, and Chief Marketing Officer of the strategic communications firm PSB Associates. Mr. Fleischmann was Chief of Staff to the Honorable Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and served in the Maryland Governor’s Cabinet; a Staff Director of the U.S. Congress Committee on Foreign Affairs and its Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere; Co-Founder & Vice President of the trade investment firm LATCORP; and served as a Senior Associate of J.P. Morgan Chase (formerly Chase Manhattan Bank). For several years, he served on the board of directors of OFFITBank, the wealth management private bank. Mr. Fleischmann is also a Co-founder of ImagineNations Group, a global network that promotes youth investment, youth-led enterprise, and entrepreneurship, and was awarded the Goodwin Prize for ImagineNations’ global work to promote entrepreneurship in the developing world.

Mr. Fleischmann was a lead member of the Obama Presidential Transition Team from 2008 to 2009, and was appointed by the Obama Administration to serve as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (ExIm Bank), a member of the International Trade Advisory Commission (ITAC), and as a member of White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.

Mr. Fleischmann is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a Board Member of the Atlantic Council, the Jane Goodall Institute, the Eisenhower Fellowships, and a member of the Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Leadership Council. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of BizCorps, he serves on the American Council on Germany (ACG), and the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS). He is also a board member of the Cal Ripken Foundation, the James R. Jordan Foundation (Mrs. Deloris Jordan & family), Deepak Chopra Foundation, and the Just Capital Foundation. He is a Trustee of the Phillips Collection art museum. Mr. Fleischmann serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Medical System and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Emergency Medical Center. He is a board member of the Rock Creek Park Conservancy and a founding member of the Clinton Global Initiative.

During the historic period of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Mr. Fleischmann served as a policy aide in the German parliament, working for former German Chancellor Willy Brandt and his foundation for development and peace, while receiving a Bundestag Fellowship at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität.

He was awarded an M.A. with honors from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he serves on the board. He received a B.A. and B.S. with honors from American University, where he was the valedictorian and student body president. Mr. Fleischmann chairs the Dean’s Council of the School of International Service.

Mr. Fleischmann serves as a member of the Global Philanthropists Circle (GPC) founded by David Rockefeller and his daughter Peggy Dulany. He is an advisory director serving on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Hall. He is married, lives in Washington, DC, and is the father of two children.
