McCloy Fellows in urban affairs receive an up-close look at city management and government administration across the Atlantic. Past German fellows have taken part in City Council meetings, toured U.S. cities accompanied by various officials, and attended the annual National League of Cities convention. American fellows are likewise given access to German officials.
American and German urban affairs fellows generally are selected in the spring and go overseas as a group in the summer or early fall. Travel dates are chosen to accommodate the schedules of the three to four participating fellows. During the program, fellows receive a per diem of $200 for a maximum of 28 days, based on the number of nights spent abroad. The American Council on Germany covers pre-approved transatlantic airfare and domestic travel, including intercity rail travel.

2) a cover letter outlining what you expect to gain in terms of personal and professional development from this fellowship; and
3) two letters of recommendation (preferred) or contact information for two references.
